Hopi Prophecy: The Time of the Lone Wolf is Over
Do Not Look Outside Yourself for a Leader. Gather Yourselves in Community
More than twenty years ago, a group of Hopi Elders offered us a prophecy about the rapidly changing times we’re now experiencing. They presented exceptionally clear guidance about how we can make it a good time rather than a time when many will feel they are being torn apart and suffering greatly. The Elders compared this Hour in time to a tumultuous, fast flowing river in which we’re all immersed. The most experienced members of the Hopi tribe provided specific instructions on how we can benefit from this time rather than allowing the fast flowing river to cause us suffering or tear us apart.Â
You drown not by falling into a river, but by staying submerged in it.~ Paulo Coelho
The Hopi Prophecy teaches us that to navigate such a dynamic river skillfully requires discernment, preparation and the support of a community. Visualize that river of time we’re in right now as it flows swiftly towards an unknown destination. Picture it bending and flowing in waves and patterns, creating currents, whirlpools and eddies. Imagine yourself, paddle in hand, about to navigate this tricky waterway. What will you do? Will you respond by clinging, struggling or gathering?Â
Clinging to the shore of what’s familiar is a natural response when you are facing new and treacherous stretches of the river. But by continually looking backward or holding onto the past, you may never get to experience the new places that the river wants to take you. If you’re awaiting a return to something that feels more normal before entering the flow, you may miss the satisfying adventures awaiting you downriver.
Struggling against the current of change denies the power, force and direction of the river’s flow. If you try to paddle upstream, it’s like fighting the river. Constant, pointless struggle is exhausting and keeps you stuck in the same old frustrated places. You waste precious energy when you go against the flow, but when you relax into it, you align with the river’s tremendous power and allow it to propel you forward with greater ease.Â
Gathering with other nearby paddlers can help you override the natural impulse to cling or to struggle when confronted with turbulent water. Finding your tribe, watching out for one another and paddling along with the current is much safer than going it alone in rough waters. With a little help from your friends, you can share responsibility for the discernment, preparation and support that you need to stay afloat. With the support of your crew, you can explore new shores that you may not have been able to reach if you had navigated solo.Â
Time is a sort of river of passing events, and strong is its current; no sooner is a thing brought to sight than it is swept by and another takes its place, and this too will be swept away.~ Marcus Aurelius
At our Sovereign Beings potluck gatherings, we acknowledge the reality of the swiftly flowing river of time we’re experiencing. We’ve researched, debated, and come to accept that there are both challenges and opportunities available during these tumultuous times in which we’re living. We are preparing to make the most of the trip, helping each other to keep our eyes and hearts wide open while keeping our heads above water. With discernment and preparation, we’ve decided to stick together and enjoy whatever the journey may bring in the company of good friends.Â
As you think, so you are. ~ Wayne Dwyer
As we encourage each other to let go of clinging and struggling, our friend Abby reminds us to go with the flow of the river by visualizing, affirming and creating the adventure we wish to have. As we’re floating downstream together, appreciating the vistas along the way, we take turns reminding each other of the outrageous freedom we enjoy when we take nothing personally. We show up for ourselves and each other when we accept Marcelle’s invitation to gather together in joyous and sacred celebrations along the way. As we continue to strengthen our bond, we intend to embody the wisdom of the Hopi during these tumultuous times. We pray that by sharing what we’ve learned, that you too will be inspired to go with the flow in the company of good friends, and that together we will all become the ones we’ve been waiting for.
We are the Ones We’ve Been Waiting For
We Sovereign Beings are a heart-spirit-brain trust of men and women with widely diverse areas of expertise who share an insatiable curiosity and the desire to be the change that we wish to see in the world. We aspire to embody the spirit of community advised by the Hopi elders. We honor the wisdom from all sacred traditions so that we may be guided on a path of spiritual service that is in alignment with our sovereign Souls, with Nature and the Source of All That Is.Â
We Sovereign Beings are pushing out into the middle of the river, keeping our eyes open and our heads above water. We have incubated a plan to move forward in love and embrace change with benevolent intent. We’ve been collaborating for months, and we’re nearly ready to share our new creation with you so that you too may benefit from the momentum of conscious change we’re cultivating. We envision multiple, interlocking circles of sovereign souls joining together to birth wholesome, humane structures that will help us transition from subject to sovereign and support ourselves in pursuing a vital life, outrageous liberty and the joyful pursuit of happiness right now.Â
Who is in your heart-spirit-brain trust? Be inspired! Host a potluck to gather your tribe in your own circle of sovereign souls. Come along with us as we float downstream and celebrate making the journey from subject to sovereign both within, spiritually, and without, in the real world. We plan to create sturdy structures from which to enjoy the view on our way to exciting new destinations. Stay tuned for details about how you can join us in becoming the ones we’ve been waiting for. Â
We are the Ones We’ve Been Waiting For
You have been telling people that this is the Eleventh Hour, now you must go back and tell the people that this is the Hour. And there are things to be considered…
Where are you living?
What are you doing?
What are your relationships?
Are you in right relation?
Where is your water?
Know your garden.
It is time to speak your truth.
Create your community.
Be good to each other.
And do not look outside yourself for your leader.
Then he clasped his hands together, smiled, and said, “This could be a good time! There is a river flowing now very fast. It is so great and swift that there are those who will be afraid. They will try to hold on to the shore. They will feel they are being torn apart and will suffer greatly. Know the river has its destination. The elders say we must let go of the shore, push off into the middle of the river, keep our eyes open, and our heads above the water.
And I say, see who is in there with you and celebrate. At this time in history, we are to take nothing personally, least of all ourselves. For the moment that we do, our spiritual growth and journey come to a halt.
The time of the lone wolf is over. Gather yourselves! Banish the word ’struggle’ from your attitude and your vocabulary. All that we do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration.
We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.
--Hopi Elders' Prophecy, June 8, 2000
Collectively we are called to lead the way!!
Potlucks that included sharing of ideas as well as food and collective visioning through guided meditations truly feed the mind, body & spirit. I feel so honored to gather with other Sovereign Beings who are learning to swim with the currents of change to new freedom-based paradigm shores. Thank you Katie for sharing this important Hopi prophecy and such clear and beautiful words about how we can flow with rather than against the swift moving river of change this year and beyond. We came as souls for a ride on the river & We definitely are the Ones we have been waiting for!
