A reader chastised me for my use of demeaning memes in my recent newsletter as unbecoming a reverend. I agree. It is my intention to share a perspective that’s accurate and respectful in this space and I missed the mark. Typically it takes a week of research, review and editing to comb out the snarls in what I write; this piece was published raw, without the benefit of thorough scrutiny. I admit it, Canada’s Prime Minister’s response to the protesters in Ottawa got on my last nerve and I reacted angrily instead of pausing. I apologize for any offense, as that is not my intent.
The stated mission of the organizers of the Freedom Convoy is the rollback of government restrictions ushered in with covid. Supporting that goal is my intent. I can’t stand by silently as mandates and vaxpassports become the bars of a digital prison that control each and every one of us. I fear being tracked, traced and injected at the behest of the government. I worry that our children will grow up under constant surveillance, lacking the freedom or desire to explore outside the metaverse. I mistrust the centralized currency being planned by government, as it’s the infrastructure of a segregated society that has the capability of freezing assets and preventing dissenters from entering a grocery store. These urgent concerns compel me to write.
I believe that taking back our God-given rights to freedom is the vital task at hand for our generation. Governments don’t roll back restrictions to our rights unless we push back. Rude memes are an unnecessary distraction from this critical issue, as the Prime Minister’s own words will prove him to be on the side of tyranny, not freedom.
