I can definitely testify to the healing power of the Welcoming Prayer having just had an experience using it. One feels a great sense of relief and liberation after having let go of thoughts and behaviors that were causing unhappiness and difficulties in relationships for years. It happens miraculously as if it was never there in the first place. Yet you know a huge burden has been lifted and you know you have been changed and can now relax. I remember saying, "I'm just not at that place anymore". I know that being human, I will most likely backslide here and there, but part of the comfort in the Welcoming Prayer is knowing that I can always return to it again, and again for further "Divine Therapy".

Yes, you perfectly describe the process. Once we face what’s within us, welcome it and let it go, we feel differently. Thanks for sharing!

I love this, Katie! Thank you for providing such a beautiful tool for healing. I'm going to slide the Welcoming Prayer into my back pocket for those times when I find myself in total lizard-brain mode. Wish I had read this when you wrote it -- I really could've used it yesterday!! Tired, strung-out, driving with my husband for 700 miles in one day, I took offense at something he said and shut down completely. It took me a loooong time to get unstuck. Next time, I'm reaching into my back pocket! xox

So beautifully written! I find the “false self” has many parts... an Inner Child with unmet needs that our True Higher Self/Wise Mind/Soul can nurture and care for... an Inner Critic that our True Self can observe ,challenge or simply choose to not believe, and often a Pain Body made of stored trauma energies that wants to feed on drama and create more pain but melts away when we simply listen to it with loving kindness and curiousity and let it express through bodily sensations and emotions without believing or over-indulging it... I so love this Welcoming prayer and will definitely share it with others!
